Edit Whatever the Cost. ![]() | What messages do YOU like to hear?
'Lo everyone. I've been asked to preach to my church's Youth Group on none other than the 4th of July - two weeks from today. As it is, I still have nothing to speak on, though I'm well aware of what I could speak on. I've prayed about it - and shall continue to do so - but, I simply ask: What do you like to hear? What messages intrigue you the most? Which ones captivate you the most? Which ones bore you the most? Anything along those lines would help. Thanks =D |

I seem to like anything that teaches on how Jesus amazed, without miracles. Such as when he did things that awed people and broke tradition, but still held to the Scriptures. Things like when he forgives the adulteress and says "Those who have committed no sin may throw the first stone." I like when I hear something Jesus said that is in my range to do--such as speaking a line and teaching it in daily life today. |

Maybe since its independence day you could talk about how we're free from sin... Do you preach often ?

I agree with Neveralone. Talk about how America is free physically, and the ancient Jews also had a similar crisis with the Romans on their hands... imagine how they must have felt when the long-awaited-for Messiah didn't provide them with the immediate results that they wanted/expected, but instead gave them a restored relationship with God? The good ol' Gospel message. I admit the last time I heard it, I wasn't too interested in hearing what I already knew... but I'd love to hear it now. Why? because it has the power to move and convict anyone: the strongest of Christians, the weakest of Christians, the Lost, the Intellectual and so on.

I sometimes find it refreshing to hear a message that I can relate to directly and immediately in my life. In my Women's Cell, I've been covering specific secular topics such as hypocrisy, jealousy, gossip and beauty and analysing them in the Biblical sense, which in effect contrasts how we may be living it out in the secular sense. Well, I assume your youth group is comprised of more thant just women though =p, so other grit like materialism, pride or guilt might work too? Depending on the spiritual maturity of the youth group, you can tailor your message to their needs. Just an idea you can tie with what others have said =) I pray things will work out well for you. |
