My review of Windows 7

Well I got my hands on a Windows 7 build 7000 (Beta1), and I think this OS is superior. The whole OS including the installation is just as fast as a fresh new XP, if not faster. All drivers are automatically found and installed, and the new "Superbar" replaces the taskbar and looks great! Now, programs on the taskbar are just icons. It is compatible with all programs that are compatible with Vista.

This OS is surprisingly stable, especially for being a beta version. I got to the point where I installed it as my main OS because of it's performance and stability

If you have any questions about it I will be glad to answer.

How demanding on a system is it? I don't like Windows Vista for a number of reasons - including how demanding it can be on a system. This laptop I'm on has it, and it's Vista that is the biggest problem with it.

Well I can tell you my specs are 2GB RAM, 120GB HD (5400RPM), 1.66ghz Core2Duo processor, and Intel 950 GMA. It's not too great of a system, but it seems handle Windows 7 very well The speed performance noticibly increased over Vista because Vista was much slower than Windows 7 for me.

Oh I found a bug! I shut down my laptop, and in the morning I have to restart my wireless router in order to get WiFi. Weird because I can restart my laptop anytime, and it can still use WiFi, but for some reason after a period of being shut down, it doesn't like to connect without having the router reset.

Where did you get your hands on this?

I'm extremely interested!!!

Vista was sortof a letdown because Microsoft didn't really seem to have any vision for it than a oversized beta test. When they announced windows 7 shortly after the release of vista, they may have sealed vista's fate.

Anyways I'm going to do some looking around.....

Very interesting. Most of the Microsoft OS's are blotted and burdensome for the most part. The times that I have dealt with Vista I haven't had any problems except for some minor issues that seem to be hardware interfacing issues.
I assume you are using a 64 bit processor aswell. I think that this is the main reason that Vista doesn't feel as blotted as other OS's I look forward to getting a look at Windows 7.

While I do have a 64-bit processor, I am not using the 64-bit Windows 7 version. This OS definitely does not feel bloated so far, keep in mind it's only Beta 1 so lets hope they don't bloat it up or they speed it up.

I think the general public will be very pleased with this release. I am an OS-junkie, and this will be my favorite OS once it is stabilized and ready for release... even though it's extremely stable now. Snow Leopard has some competition.
