Opinions please

All right, I was thinking of putting this in the Young Women section, but decided that I'd like to get the guys' input, too. I'd like to know what you all think about the following situation:

I've been going to this one youth group, and I'm fairly new there. I've only been there about 5 or 6 times, and a couple of weeks ago when I was there a boy came up to me and said, "Your name is Kat, right?" I just said "Yeah," cause I was surprised and we ended up getting into a conversation with a couple of other girls about school and stuff like that. The other night I went again to youth group and saw him, and we talked a bit, and he's been really friendly to me.
He seems to be a pretty popular guy, and I don't know if he's just a super-friendly guy who wants to know everyone at church or if it's something else. Opinions?

If it's something more than him being friendly, I'd stay away from such a relationship until you're older. But, then again, as a leader at my youthgroup, we place emphasis on reaching out to people in friendly ways - talking to newcomers and whatnot; just making people feel welcome.

He very well could just be doing that - making you feel welcome, and whatnot.

Hey--seems to me that he's just trying to be friendly! But maybe not. I don't really know, since I don't know what exactly happened and stuff!

Haha okay, thanks. And yeah Zipster, I know I'm pretty young to be entering into a relationship like that, but it's also weird because I've never really had a guy come up to me before and start a conversation and stuff...maybe I'm just not used to that.

I think the others are right, he's just being friendly. Since he's only seen you a few times, then if he were trying to make a move on you after so short an acquaintance, then I would strongly advise you stay away from him. Someone who jumps into a relationship so quickly is very likely to jump out of it even faster.

And like Nick said, you're too young for something serious at your age.

Yeah thanks Kate, umm the only thing is, as paranoid as it may sound, I don't want the possibility of him or someone else from youth group finding this forum and thread and piecing it together. So I guess if anyone wants to know more, PM me.
