You are right, Philip. Garage Band is on Mac's iLife. The only way you will get that is if you own a Mac. It will never be compatible with windows -- for several reasons.

I've never formed a band online, but I've talked to a friend who lives in Madison about collaborating using email and audio file sharing.

There are also online songwriting societies. You challenge yourself to write 20 songs in the course of a morning or day, and post them online... it's cool if you want to work on your writing. I've never gotten involved in one, but it would be fun. It's called Immersion Composition Society or something like that... They have a website with more info.

I found this and it looks good and it even says that it is for windows vista. It is called Amplitude Fender Studio. It is 79.99 dollars. I am willing to spend at least 75 dollars to get things going. You can’t just simply plug the guitar into the computer. Using a mic. sounds bad. So I am going to go with this one.

I am saving up money for a laptop and this.
