Edit Prophet/Prophetess ![]() | Christian Campus House & BSU
I'm new to the school I'm going to right now, and I was wondering if anybody has ever been involved in either of these things before?? My husband and I visited the Christian Campus House yesterday, but still don't know too much about it. We haven't really been able to find anything about the Baptist Student Union. Anybody know anything about either of these two school organizations?

Edit Apostle ![]() | Quote:
The Baptist Student Union (BSU) is the traditional name of a college-level organization that can be found on many college campuses in the United States and Canada. The as the term BSU became associated with other organizations, many local ministries changed their name. In areas where Baptists are strongly and positively recognized, the organization is now commonly known as Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCMs). In other areas of the country they are known as Christian Challenge, Christian Student Ministries or other similar names. Whatever they are called, these ministries are groups of students, faculty members and staff who are seeking to grow in their faith and to reach the world. Nationally, these groups are predominantly comprised of Baptists and Southern Baptists, but are also open to people of other Christian denominations, as well as those who profess other religious ties or who profess none at all. In some areas of the country, however, there are more participants from other backgrounds than from the Baptist traditions. I got it from wikepedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baptist_Student_Union Hope this helps somewhat... I really don't know much about it though. | |

Don't know anything about Christian Campus House. I don't think that there is a central organization that all of the Christian Campus House ministries answer too. I am involved in Christian Campus Fellowship at Georgia Tech and really like it there. I would be very weary of an organization like this though. I know a little bit about BSU it is a college ministry with Baptist ministers. It answers to a central organization of Baptists. I have gone to a few events of theirs and enjoyed them. What college do you go to? The reason I ask is that so we can look online for information about the individual CCH and BSU. Hope this helps.

I go to the University of Central Missouri. Are you saying that you would be weary of Christian Campus Fellowship, or were you referring to the Christian Campus House I was referring to? The website to CCH is: http://digdeeper.org The website to BSU is http://centralbsu.org There's also a Campus Crusade for Christ: http://www.crukc.org/cmsu/ The CCH's website is really the only one that has been updated. If you want to research other Christian organizations in my school, here's my school's link: http://ucmo.edu Thanks for all your help guys!!!

The BSU is the student ministry for the Baptist denomination. In fact, I think it is more specifically the Southern Baptist denomination. However, just like with ANY college ministry. You do NOT have to go to a particular denomination in order to be involved in the campus ministry. The denominational lines are blurred in college ministries. Just keep that in mind when looking at these. I haven't heard of the other one that you listed. However, I did some looking at your school's website, since you put it in the post. The Campus Crusade is a good organization depending on how active it is in the school. This, of course, can be said of ANY ministry organization in any college campus. Campus Crusade is a non-denominational group. They are more geared toward evangelism. If you want to fine-tune your skills about witnessing to others, then you may want to check this one out. Alpha Theta Omega is a Christian sorority. You may want to check this out. Sometimes it's helpful to have "just the girls". The site has more information on it. http://esterbetaato.com/default.aspx Wesley Foundation is the campus ministry of the United Methodist church. They, like the BSU, of course, is open to ANY denomination and ANY person really. If you aren't UM, you aren't tossed out to the curb. This was the ministry that I was involved in at all the colleges I have gone to except the one I attend now because I am just WAY too busy. I looked at their website, and it looks really cool. You may want to check this out. It looks like it's a group of people that have alot of fun with one another. That's what you want to find -- a little family. http://www.thewesleyucm.com/wesley%202.0/oh%20hi..html http://www.thewesleyucm.com/wesley%2...%20are....html Those are the sites to the Wesley stuff. I hope this helps you out. Amanda

I have been weary of Christian Campus Fellowship. I have found things I like and don't like. I read the website for the Christian Campus House, and did some searching on the internet. I think it is associated with northside christian church. This would alleviate most of my worries if that is the case. They don't have a bio on the staff of CCH on their website which is somewhat strange. Any of those ministries seem to be good. It is wherever you feel most comfortable. Good luck

I can't really say much about either. I was involved with Campus Crusade at my old college, and I always enjoyed it. It wouldn't hurt to check out all of the ministries available at your school though.
