"Do You Think I'm Beautiful?"

So I've been reading this book called Do You Think I'm Beautiful? And even though parts of it are hard to relate to because it was written for like older women, it's still a really good book. And it made me think about just how often we tend to ask that question to anything that may give us an answer. I'm going to say that teenage girls tend to turn to boys and beauty magazines for the answer. Sometimes, we turn to God...but personally there are times I'm so distracted by the world that I don't hear Him say "Yes. I do think your beautiful." It's a struggle for me. The reason I'm sharing is because I heard it this weekend... it's an awesome feeling to realize God thinks your beautiful- and I was hoping I could share that with you girls.

And this is what happened: I spent yesterday and today in Washington, D.C. for the March4Life. There were'nt really alot of people on the trip that left from my area...it was a few people from my 2 youth groups and a priest from a parish in Philly. I didn't really know Father Kevin at first, even though he's gone on two other trips with us, because I dont see him all the time...I've only ever really talked to him in passing when we're on a trip- like a "hello" or "how are you doing?" kind of thing. But due to weather issues last night, our bus got stuck in horrible traffic...so our small group got alot of bonding in- to pass the time we played silly games and stumped each other with riddles. It was alot of fun. And I ended up talking to Father Kev..but only about the riddles-nothing major. It wasn't one of those sit and get to know eachother talks, there were a 2 or 3 of us working on the riddle. Later that night, after XLT and mass, we were back at the school we were going to be sleeping at and Merry came up to me (Merry is engaged to my youth minister...she does so much with the youth group and shes just awesome- shes helped me through so much, and shes a great model of a christian woman). And she started telling me that Father Kev had come up to her earlier and asked about me- he wanted to know who I was. She said, that he said I was beautiful and like glowing. Merry said she told him about this Going Deeper Retreat we went on...and that I've been glowing and happy ever since. And after she told me all this, I was shocked - I mean I barely knew Father Kev and he could see God's love in me and he thought I was beautiful. I thought about it alot after Merry told me, because I was happy, and I was still kind of suprised...and thats kind of when it hit me that if Father Kev barely knew me and described me as beautiful...then God must think so much of me-he must think I'm beautiful too. And that moment of realization was just amazing.

God thinks I'm beautiful.
He thinks all of us are. Isn't that awesome?

Even when we dont meet the standards of boys and beauty magazines- we are always beautiful in God's eyes (even on those lazy days where we wear sweatpants and a hoodie and we leave the make up at home)

And that makes me smile

That's beautiful. It reminds me of the greatest compliment I've ever received...

My "brother's" grandmother told me she could see Christ in me. That just blew me away. It's seriously the greatest compliment any christian could get!!

the best compliment i've ever recieved is when i play for my church and mary ann comes up to me and tells me that after hearing me play she understands the passages where David played to soothe King Saul
i suppose to me that's a greater compliment than to be told i'm beautiful, though i do appreciate that as well
