i'm not sure if God exists

I became a christian last year, and started praying for some things. okay i'll just be honest with you all. my dad abuses us kids physically, and i prayed to God that dad would get saved. God isn't listening, and my dad keeps beating us. so i'm kinda mad at God, and wonder if He's even real? cuz why isn't he answering me? I was a faithful christian, and i loved him, and wanted to do what was right, and he didn't do nothing 4 me.

so i went to my friend joy (don't know if you guys know her? she's on these forums, thinks her name is joygirl) and she kept telling me that God has an ultimate paln, and he see's the big picture, and i can only see a part. i'm not sure though, so she told me to come here.

i'm confused. why would a loving God let my dad beat me? its not right...help me please. joy is trying to help me thru this time, and i need some more help as well.

I can only assure you that God is real and that He loves you. Many times, I have personally questioned God about the injustices in my life, but at the end, I know trusting comes with a price. And that is waiting. We wait for what we don't see, what we don't know, what we don't understand. And that is too much, sometimes. But I know that God is still God. And His ways, no one can understand. Though He might seem to be quiet and not answering our prayers, He is still there. And we can only trust that He knows what he is doing. Becoz He promised us in scripture that those who trust in Him, He will NOT disappoint. Cling on to that promise and don't give up on praying!

On a more personal and concerned note, is there someone you can talk this with? What your dad is doing is illegal. And if it becomes worse, I advise that you seek help from a good friend or someone you can trust to see what can be done. If need be and if that's what it takes to stop the abuse, you may need to go (with someone if that's better) to a legal authority.

Really feel for you mate... Unfortunately i know people who have been saved after 30 years of people praying for them. Yes God's in control and answers prayers but his timing isn't ours so unfortunatly its not like just clicking your fingers everytime to make something change immediately. I agree, you do need to seek out the authorities on this one.
I really don't know what to say... i know the bible promises God can give you his strength and comfort. I know this personally too... I know that the bible shows numerous situations where God's just in and dealt with it, but also numerous situations where he's given the people the perseverence to deal with the situation instead and healed them emotionally... eg. Paul was sprung out of prison, joseph (and his technicolour dream coat) spent years in prison but he persevered and soon was running the joint which prepared him to save the whole of egypt from famine when he listened to God... God is completely wise in his plans and in the end i've always found my way or my easy escape wasn't the best plan and God had something just round the corner that much better!

Talk to a trusted adult for help. God loves you and doesn't want you to be hurt. I'll be praying for you.

Hey Jedi KNight,

I know how it is when you feel that nothing is going right, and wonder if God is really there. I've been there b4. But God is real, and even though we might not be able to see it yet, He has an awesome plan, and He will use this somehow for good.
God has perfect timing, and in His timing He will answer your prayers.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going thru this. Like the others said, you need to talk to a trusted adult and get help.

I can say, as the others have, once again, that God exists. Yes, he does answer prayers.

Just curioes, do you go to a church? If not, you could try to make your dad go with you. Before service, you could try to tell the Pastor that you want your dad to be saved. Tell him about how your dad treats you, and you really need help. Then, he might talk about to your father, not directly, but indirectly during the sermon, and then he might get your father saved.

God never wastes pain, He also does answer our prayers but not as we see fit. Yes, No or Wait.
God is not causing your father to abuse you. That's sin, why doesn't God prevent it? We don't really know until we get out of that "valley" and look back at what we've been through.
Maybe as you get older, you will be able to help someone who's in your same situation. I've never been abused like that but I was mentally abused by classmates at school daily, and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything now because I've grown stronger in the Lord, and it has made me into the person I am today.
I would suggest that you get help from someone at your Church if you go to one, confide in them what's happening. (I would say a Christian Man)
Christ didn't say that life would be easy, but He did say he would be with us through it. When those moments come when your father is beating you. I would begin to pray with my eyes closed, focus on Christ.
Jesus has been through everything you've been through. He was beaten 7x49 times! (49 beatings with a whip; 7 edges to the whip) He was bruised and beaten for you!

Hey Malachi,

Hows it going man? You know I'm still prayin for you and your dad both... and I know God will work. Please don't lose faith... keep eyes on Jesus, and not on the pain. I've been through similar things, but a know, God was always so real during those times... and i got so close to God through being hurt by other people.
Just remember, God hasn't forsaken you. Its the devil trying to ruin you and your life, but if you keep on with God, you'll make it.
I love you bro, and remember to phone me at any time if you need anything. Doesn't matter what time it is, I'll come if you need me.
God's gonna do big things in your dad's life, just keep believing. Don't lose faith...

that's so sorry to here, i'll be praying for you.

God will deliver, just stay faithful to Him. I can't even come to comprehend what you are going through although my dad wasn't exactly peachy, so just keep hope and keep faith. I'm sorry i can't tell you much, but i just want you to know that you're in my prayers. People have said it so many times, but God has a plan and everything happens for a reason. You may not understand now, but later on it might hit you. For me, God was calling me just to go to Him, and im so greatful that i gave up my pride and took his offer. With my trust in Him, i have been able to get over just about everything in my past, which wasn't very pretty, and lead a happy, prosperous future because of the wisdom and faith He had taught me. I don't know where i would be right now if He did not present me with these obsticles, because initially i thought religion was a hoax, so though i went through hardships, i came through with wisdom and hope, and if you keep perservering, you will too.

never give up on your prayers sometimes they might take long to be answered trust me i know .but i think its because God always knows the perfect timing to answer your prayers.just keep on having faith and keep on beileving in him .

and soon good will strenghten you and help you out .

why do i know this ? because he died for you i dont think i would be much bother to him to help you out besides he loves you .
