My testimony

I know I haven't posted a whole lot on here, I mostly read and learn from all of you! But I thought I should share something about myself...

Like most people here, I was born into a christian family. My mother took my sister and I to church every sunday, and I was baptized when I was six. But I never really felt God. It was just a ritual without meaning for me.
We stopped going to church when I was twelve or so, because my mother got a job that kept her busy or tired, and my sister hated going and became an atheist. My father never went to church with us because he also had a job that made it impossible.

Two years ago I was not a good person. I listened to heavy metal, wore black, and definately ignored God. I also hung out with someone who was very spiritually toxic for me. She was intensely over-dramatic and believed that there was no happiness in the world. Unfortunately, that wore off on me. Luckily, my other best friend is a true Christian (and a missionarie's daughter to boot!) and she was helping me realize I needed to get right with God. But then she moved across country.

One day I thoughtlessly pulled an old bible off of my shelf and leafed through it. I found myself breaking down and realizing that I was missing so much. I gave my life to God again. I stopped wearing black, and started going back to church, which was hard. I saw less of my "toxic" friend, but I prayed hard for her and continue to do so. I still talk to her, and I hope she can realize where true happiness comes from.

Since giving God control of my life (that was about 9 months ago) I've been so much happier! I can't even believe how wonderful and blessed my life is. I'm so grateful that He gave me another chance. I have completley changed, and my family has really noticed. My sister is starting to reconsider her reletionship with God because she's seen how happy He makes me. My parents both try harder in their faith. And I have some Christian friends that teach me new things everyday. My cross country friend and I are closer than ever, and I'm looking forward to her visit in the summer!

I still have a long way to go in my faith, and I struggle everyday, but I feel that God will help me. And this board is an awesome place to become a better christian!
