resisting atheism

Im just a new Christian..I was an atheist for 10 years (Im 20 and i became atheist at the age of 9) and God called me for almost a year...for the first 5 months..my Christian life is ok and i wasn't that serious ...another 2 months..and my perception changed..im was thinking to become an extremist for Him, to follow Him and to serve Him...i just don't want to become an ordinary Christian like people i know...but these past few weeks...my resolved is weakening..my spiritual life is somehow dull and sometimes my old self is back...and sometimes i asked myself why im doing this or that..or why would I want to sacrifice for Someone that i don't know if true or not..so guys help me please..i don't wanna be apart from Him again...im resisting atheism but for how long can i resist it?

You can do it!
Satan wants to make you ineffective and unfruitful, destroy your trust in Christ and let you sink.
But you are empowered by Christ, and you don't have to give in to those doubts.
Do you have any friends who are Christians? A youth group? It's important to have people to share in your struggles, the Bible tells us to not give up meeting together.
I'll definately be praying for you!
"If you feed your faith, doubt will starve to death!" I love that saying.
I know that you really believe, because you acknowledged that God called to you. Do you have a Bible? I'd recommend reading John, and the other gospels.
PM me anytime. I'll help you however I can, I want to see you grow!!
There are a number of people on this forum that will gladly help you and encourage you toward Christ anytime you wish.
Keep us updated!

As a former atheist, only 10 months removed, I know what it's like to make spiritual progress, only to be pushed back again by doubt. I count my salvation from January, but for months after that, I went through various relapses... until one day, I just seemed to get past that & I haven't doubted God's presense in my life since then (He started calling me last September & it took 4 months to let go of pride & accept Jesus' gift). Think about this: why do you think God called you, from the very moment that you began to be aware of His hand in your life? You are a part of His wonderful plan & He is going to use you to do His work on earth.

Don't let this dark world pull you away from your Savior... He will give your the faith and strength to have confidence in His power to overcome all obstacles. As Hebrews 12:1-3 says:

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls."

Remember.. He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it in time. Have patience; "But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)

Try to connect with other Christians; find a church home if you do not have one. Spend time every day in the Word (the Gospel of John is a great place to start; also the book of Hebrews).

God bless you - I'll be praying!

I read bible every morning and at night...I don't have a church yet...and I don't have Christian friends here... well most of them are hundred miles away. So if i need someone to talk to about my faith ..there's no one I can turn to...even my family..they are miles away. My school is two and half hours from home so i have to live with my Uncle's family and im not close with them. I have new friends here..they are Christians..yes.. but most them are lost. I am studying in a school where in most the students here have vices, they smoke..they drink..some of them do drugs and fall into sexual impurity..they cuss a lot..in short they are addicted to worldly desires. I think becoz of their social status...Sometimes i just want to lose myself too..but God is always there to save me from those situations...And before i forgot..thank you guys...thank you..yes i need help and your prayers...

I too was atheist plus a sorceress for more than 20 years. So I know the spiritual battle. There is a war between the carnal (old self) and the spiritual (new self). Don't give in to satan. Yes he will promise you what you want, BUT you will feel unsatisfied, no peace. But with God... He'll give you blessings! Blessings that will POUR down on you.

Yes it's hard. God said it but it's worth it and the reward is Out of this world. God will never leave you nor forsake you. Don't listen to satan saying false stuff and condemn you. Fight with God. God will not let you lose to satan.

Remember you are a NEW CREATION.

woooow i remember how that felt. I guess athiests need hard, solid proof in order for them to believe something, right? well, i found my answer reading the book of Isaiha (i cant spell) where everything was prophesized, and that just put the record straight. From then on i truly accepted Jesus into my heart. So, just look and you'll find your answer. Once you find it, i'm sure that you won't find yourself crawling anymore. And if you feel that you are really sinking and that God is abandoning you(which is the WORST feeling in the world), dont go into that pit, because he's not. Just resist and resist and pray to the lord for help, and he will deliver. You have to have faith, because it's faith that saves you! Hallelujua!

Hope that helps! I'll pray for you! contact me if you need help, because i'm sure i'll understand.

In Christ,
Samantha

Find a forum, like this one, though I'd recommend one far far more active (that could literally be a fellowship home for you, replacement for a church, since you're saying you know of no Christians physically around you for many miles) so you can have that encouragement, discussion, and "iron sharpening iron" experience, even worship and pray together in text-form, there are many such Christian web-boards out there. If you need to know of some URL's PM me sis.

Tia, please don't misunderstand, I wasn't trying to "aim her away" or give any sort of negative feedback concerning here, I'm just saying it probably isn't as active as she might want/need for a church-replacement. Sorry if I connotated wrong; hey, I'll be getting my article done soon heh heh (finals weeks right now) ^_^
