Fasting???

Y do people Fast?? I was talking to mi skool councellor today, who also goes to mi church (BONUS HEY?) and sumhow we ended up on that topic and I asked him wot it was and he said that it was something you do to get closer to God or something...like u dont eat and yeh....u get closer to God but I still dont understand y u wouldnt eat to get closer to God when food isnt the basis of our relationship with him, and how do u know when to do so......CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN IT TO ME BETTA???? PLZ?!?!?!

I don't know everything about it, but a fast is a conscious, intentional decision to not eat for a while in order to grow spiritually. It's giving up the pleasure of eating in order to get closer to God.

we are hungering for God....not for ourselve...i say we should fast at least once every two months....for 1-2 days....but yeah....

the way i have always understood fasting is that we fast in order to teach us to relie(sp??) on God for our needs

When you fast youre making a sacrifice by turning your plate over and youre showing God how desperate you are to get closer to Him. There's a scripture tha says somethings come out through fasting and prayer. So thats why we fast.

fasting for me is denying my body something it naturally wants, and so my body is 'under subjection' and I am able to get free from sin this way. Its also a good practice for self control.

yes. I fill it also waeken the flesh strengthen the spirit.
