Okay, so I sort of posted about this in the prayer request section, but...

I have a big problem with stage fright/nerves and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Any advice or encourgement you could give me would be great.

stage fright is a natural reaction that every1 does feel, but as u do it more and more u start to get used to it, one way to mabe overcome this is to practice heaps infront of ppl u know e.g. ur friends and family. this may help u a little but if u believe that u can do it then u may just overcome this fear, but it could take a while.
good luck

I am getting a bit better. I can play certain songs on the piano in front of people...not incredibly well, but I can get through them. Speech is a bit better. Debate, however, is not.

Thanks for the prayers.

I used to have a major issue with being nervous and fearful, especially with the physical symptoms of fear. But one day, I prayed about it and I feel that God removed it from me. Not to say that I don't feel or experience fear, but its nowhere near as bad as it used to be. Fear is not from God, and it is also a spiritual thing. But God is faithful to gradually ease our fears and our worries, through experiences and many other things. He is always there, always urging us not to be afraid. Not because we won't experience fear, but because He wants His children to know there is no need to let fear rule over them. Let the peace of God rule your heart! God loves you and in time, His perfect love will cast out all fear.

God bless you

heres what i do when speaking in church or something....

i take a chill pill... seriously...i just relax...i just make sure that all i do is soaked in prayer...i pray that God's grace would be over me as i am speaking or whatever.....and i take a chill pill...the chill pill is the HOly Spirit. I say, "Holy Spirit, this is all in your hands. Fill me with peace"

IT WORKS...how do i know? everytime i am about to go up on stage for something i am soooo nervous..and just as i get up there...i am soo calm...i even look natural doing it...lol

another thing to remember...is talk, or whatever it is your doing, as if it was just you and your best friend. talk, sing, play etc as if it there was only your best friend there.

just remember...ask the HOly Spirit for help, relax, and be yourself!

Maybe I should explain something. I never feel nervous beforehand (except in debate), I just start shaking really bad when I get up in front of people. I can be completely comfortable with the person, confident in what I'm doing, and even praying to God, but I still shake so bad that I mess up. When the shaking starts, that's when I get freaked out.

have you tried moving around, when speaking shifting your weight and just taking a few steps occasionally can help you control your nervous energy, also taking something like a ball that you can fiddle with, it's bad practise to fiddle when debating so you have to be careful not to repeat something enough that it becomes habit but you really need to get in control in the situation, if you're doing something then you shouldn't be shaking so much.

I am doing much better, even in debate. We went to a debate tournament and I paniced during the first round, but after that I believe Phil and I did very well. The shaking has dramatically decreased. Thanks again!
