Is smoking marijuana a "sin?" Also is masturbating a sin? I'm not christian but just wanna see some different perspective views. If it is, then why?

Ok well I will first start off saying I believe both are sins.

As for Masturbation here is some biblical references to me that make it a sin.

Sexual Immorality
1 Corinthians 6:12-20

everything is permissible for me-but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me-but I will not be mastered by anything. Food for the stomach and the stomach for food-but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not known that he who unites himeself with a prostitue is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh." But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit. FLEE FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the HOly Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

From Matthew 5:28

But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

I think the reason you masturbate is for sexual pleasure. In most cases you have impure thoughts that keep drawing you back to the act. Therefore you are probably in some type of lust and that is a sin.

For the Smoking "pot" here is my scipture that makes it a sin.

Romans 13:1 and Romans 13:5

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

5-Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience.

I think that it is illegal to smoke 'pot' and therefore that makes it a sin. It is a law that we do not do just like speeding is a sin.

A little encouragment just because you sin doesn't mean that God doesn't love you because he does. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. so we have all sinned but the great thing is that God can forgive us if we ask for it!!! So there is why I believe those two things are sins. Sorry this was so lengthy.

hey... well krystal basicly said it all... but if you have a problem with any of that stuff then "every young mans battle" spells the masturbating part out good its a great great book... i really think anyone/ everyone should read it... i dont know about any books on drugs though. i'll have to look into that. lol

Marijiana is a sin because since we are the temple of the Holy Spirit we must treat the bodies God gave us with respect. Marijiana ruins our bodies.

Masturbation is a sin because in order to masturbate there is first a lustful thought of pleasure. I would know i struggled with it for 4 years yo. And Jesus said that even having a lustful thought is already committing adultry, which, if u dont know, is a sin!

Yes that is good Krystal. One thing though: think about it this way: masturbation is none other than a cheapened version of what God has made to be a special and holy thing between man and wife, no? so thus it's wrong, no matter which way you look at it, try to rationalize/justify it. This was hard for me to accept. Because I truly was able to do it without lusting (I no people say it's impossible, but it's not), but then I had to face the spiritual facts that it still seperate me from God, still a sin.

she said it all. i believe that smoking is a sin because God calls us his church and we need to take care of that church
