What do you think about curses? Are they real or fake? Your thoughts please.

A curse is defined as a prayer for evil to come over someone. Since we would not pray to a Holy God for evil, one would assume that prayer would be to something other than God. And to say that my God does not have sovereign control over all things is...well... preposterous. Even Satan has to ask God's permission to touch His people. So that would be asking God's permission to curse us. I guess a similar instance happened to Job, but I can honestly say it's not common. I don't know any of us who could have taken a stance like Job.

Now as for generational curses. Well, that's just a silly misinterpretation many seem to buy into. But I'll save that one for later.

Curses. Yes curses are real. I don't have time to go into a long discussion right now I'll post more later. But there is such a thing as generational curses. And I have scriptures to back it up. but I'll post later.

The way I understand it curses are generally brought upon people because of sin. The reason the Devil had to ask permission of God in the case of Job is because Job was a righteous man in the first place and there was no area that the devil could touch him. I think that if Job was a sinful man this would not have been the case.
So different sins may bring different curses upon families and as Desertvoice said it is generational. ie. the sin of freemasonry will bring a certain curse on a family that can last several generations. The same can be said for alcoholism, homosexuality etc. How that curse manifests itself can vary... but the point is that it can be our own sin that brings curses upon us and our family as sin is also communal.

Curses are very real. They can happen to people when they walk outside of the word of God in unforgiveness, strife, non-tithers (your cursed with a curse), and people who speak opposite of the Word (cursing yourself). For example we so commonly say, "I'm sick, I have this and that disease, I have cancer, or that kid will never get saved, my neighborhood is wicked," so forth and so forth. You are speaking a curse apon yourself and if someone says like I stated before that some kid will never get saved, you are speaking a curse on that person's life instead of speaking the Word. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." Also Proverbs 26:2 says, "The curse causeless shall not come so there is always a cause for a curse."
