Edit Comput3r G33k ![]() | The answer Here is Acts 10:9-16 In these verses, God declares all animals clean to eat. ![]() Notice the blue text. The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” And a voice spoke to him the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common”. This was done three times. And the object was taken into heaven again. Last edited by JesusIsHardCore; 09-22-2005 at 09:51 AM.. Reason: Just clarifying it a bit... |

Edit Apostle ![]() | Actually the passage you bring up is not a contradiction. The cleanliness laws of the Old Testament allow us to see the need for grace in our lives - that there's no way to accomplish righteousness in and of ourselves. A real contradiction (or what I feel to be a "copyist error", though many will disagree) can be found in the age of Jehoiachin. Take a look: 2 Kings 24:8 reads: Jehoiachin was 18 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem 3 months. 2 Chronicles 36:9 reads: Jehoiachin was 8 years old when he began to reign, and he reigned 3 months and 10 days. Though the 2 passages seem to "contradict" each other, we are able to deduct from other passages and writings that Jehoiachin was actually 18 years old. This doesn't make God's Word or the original autographed copy of the Bible fallible. It merely makes the copyists fallible. But regardless, the truth of Scripture is still as accurate today as it was back then. Let me explain: Let's say I wrote a short story. Then I tore out one page of the story and gave it to 10 different people to copy. Now a few of those copies may have typos and errors, but we are confident that all 10 copies will not have the same exact error. If 1 copy of the short story states that I'm 18 and 9 copies of the short story state that I'm 28, what is the truth? The same is true for Scripture. We have more copies of Scripture from ancient times than any other book in history. So it's even easier to find the truth in God's infallible Word than it is in my 10 copies of my short story. Hope that helps. |

Edit Disciple ![]() | um... basically in Christianity there is no food (not to eat) or forbidden to eat. Only Traditions do that. Plus there is no contradictions in the Bible only the people who makes contradictions to the Bible About the pig... Like I said We can eat everything (including unclean animals) why did I say that? In verse of matthew 15:17 to 19 said... 17"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' 19For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.
