Edit AY! Newbie ![]() | The testimony of Rachael I was brought up in a "moral" home in a small village in North Wales. My dad wasn't (and still isn't) sure what he believes. My mother was a Christian. I went to church every week, heard the Gospel, but never really took it to heart. When I was 9, my parents seperated, and my 2 sisters and I moved to Ireland with my mum. As I got older, I kinda stopped going to church. I slipped into a couple of things which weren't very good, the main one being self-injury. When I was about 15, I started going to church again. I met a lot, of people who I really admired, and I wondered about their attitude to life, and how it came about. I heard a lot about having a "relationship" with Jesus, which I'd never really heard much about before. On May 8th 2004, just over a month before I turned 16, I visited a Christian ship with my youth group. We went to a youth programme on the ship. I heard testimonies, and saw how people's lives had been changed. I realised that I both needed and wanted Jesus in my life. They asked anyone who wanted to receive Jesus into their lives to stand up, but I was too afraid. I mentioned this to one of the youth leaders, and she said that I could ask Jesus into my life anytime, anyplace. It didn't have to be in front of people. I thought about that, and that night, when I was back home, I asked Jesus to come into my life. Since then, my life has changed for the better. I still slip up, I still do things that are wrong, but I no longer need to. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." I have found that to be true in many situations. Admittedly, I don't always take that way out, but my faithful God always provides it. One thing I have learned that it's not enough to trust Jesus as your Saviour, you must trust Him as your Saviour and your Lord. You have to give Him those things which distance you from Him, and trust that he will take control. I've spoken to my pastor about baptism and should be getting baptised soon.
