Post What type of Christian am I?

Hi guys. I have grown up in a Roman Catholic family. I have lately started to be a TRUE Christian and live by what I believe, and I would like to really see if I am truly a Roman Catholic. Is there a website which can ask questions and then tells you what kind you are? My basic beliefs are these:
* I believe in the trinity
* I believe that sin distances us away from God
* I believe the Bible is a mixture of history and faith. i do not believe it LITERALLY (Example...i dont take the story of creation in 7 days literally)
* I believe that Mary mother of Jesus is sacred. I have started praying to her frequently.
* i believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the baptism of the Spirit.

Thanks and God Bless

I really know very little about catholiscism. I think that you miss a key point of being a christian tho....

Jesus died to forgive us of our sins - for which every human being is responsible and comitted (for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God). Thats the key to being a TRUE christian in my mind for if you don't admitt that to Jesus and believe he died for you and enter into relationship with him you cant be christian since he the only way.

Tho i gues you just probably missed that off the list or took it for granted rather than not believing it. Am i right

Yes 100%. For me you can only know the Father through the Son (Jesus).

Someone who only thinks about God when at church. The rest of the week they don't live as a christian cos they either forget God or just live contradicting all the things he asks us to do because "they can ask for forgiveness later so it doesn't matter". They don't actually live with God like they have a relationship with him. Christianity is more like a hobby then a lifetime commitment or a personal daily relationship....

that explian what a sunday xtian is?

well personally it did come out that i was a protestant. But equally i found some of the wording a bit hard and the answers a bit vague or overly precise!

At the end of the day i don't think what sort of christian you are is to do with what denomination you come from! I think its about how you live your life, what kind of a relationship you have with God, how much you listen to him, how you respond to him, the calling and plan he has placed on your life and if you follow it etc etc etc... At the end of the day only God can judge what kind of a christian you are!

I see 3 categories....

Non-christian or Cold
sort of christian or luke warm and
full on christian (not nececarily fundamentalist tho) or hot

as revelation chapter 3 v 15-17 suggests.

Lightbulb Sunday Morning Christian

I could never be a Sunday morning Christian. It isn't about going to church. It is about Jesus! The church doesn't save you! Jesus does! The complete finished work of the cross is more than enough! His grace and love are deeper than the deepest ocean. The passion and affection that he has for you is so great and so awesome! He loves you right where you are and just as you are! Give Him your life! Give him your all! Lay down your rights. Lay down your life! Lay your burdens down. Jesus is Lord and Savior of all. You are the apple of his eye. You are the pearl of great price. He came to find you. He chose to love you and reveal himself to you. Open your heart. Let Him in. Be intimate with the Jesus, the lover of your soul. He is the way, the truth and life. He is so awesome. He is the only way to heaven and He wants to renew the relationship He has with you. Prepare the way of the Lord. The first step is recieving the love of Jesus. I love Him so much because He took my mess and turned it into a message. He gives beauty for ashes. He is so faithful! He deserves all the glory and praise! not the church. A true church gives Jesus all the glory and praise. If the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart and you need to give your life to Christ then pray with me and then tell someone who is Christian like a Pastor or someone on fire for Jesus! You are his passion! He loves you so much and so deeply!

Jesus,

Come live inside me. I want to know you. Wash away my sin. Take my past. Take my now. Take my future. I give you my life. Take it all. Be in control. I want to live for you. Fill me with your love and power. Fill me with your Spirit right now! I recieve you as my Lord and Savior. I love You Jesus! I will serve You and follow You all the the days of my life. In Jesus name...

Amen!

"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." -Romans 10:9-14 NIV

Well.. I was once a catholic and now a born again Christian, so I'll answer in my own experience.

Quote:
* I believe in the trinity
well it is very clear that the Bible talks about Heavenly Father, Jesus the Savior and Holy Spirit. So meaning trinity. Both Christians and catholics believe in this.

Quote:
* I believe that sin distances us away from God
maybe in the past but not anymore. Jesus died on the cross to save us. We don't need to pay indulgences, go to confession to the priest, do the sacraments in order to go to heaven. Catholics believe these, also catholics believe that in order to get saved... you also have to do good deeds. Which was contradicted to the verse of Ephesians 2:8 saying "It is by grace you are saved through faith not by your works or good deeds". But if you tell me that faith without works is nothing. There's another story for that.

Quote:
* I believe the Bible is a mixture of history and faith. i do not believe it LITERALLY (Example...i dont take the story of creation in 7 days literally)
yes sadly, catholics do not depend on the Bible solely so they don't think its very useful tool in everyday life. The bible is the diary of God, is the Word of God... His words will always and forever remain even the earth and heaven will passed away. History is definitely not God's words nor diary of God. It's the Bible itself. Now one of a Christian defense is the Bible it's one of the armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18 ). So satan will do anything to stop christians to read the Bible. have you noticed why people may read a thick book like harry potter yet when they tried to read the bible, they can't even finish one book from the bible?

... But the Bible is an interesting Book ^_^

Quote:
* I believe that Mary mother of Jesus is sacred. I have started praying to her frequently.
Mary is definitely the mother of Jesus (man) but never the mother of God (Christ). Mary is not omnicient nor omnipotent. She cannot hear prayers. Also if you have read the Bible when the angel visited mary... mary said in Luke 1:38 "I AM THE LORD'S SERVANT" She said she is Jesus' Servant. Also if you have read in Matt 12:46-50... and Jesus said, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" He pointed out to his disciples.. "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother." In the wedding of canaan, when Mary ordered Jesus to do a miracle... Jesus said, "Woman, my time has not yet come"

Jesus is a very loving child and He honors Mary as His earthly mother. But why did He do this? because He lives more in Spirit than in flesh. Example... our parents here on earth are our parents here.. right? but once we go up there in heaven... these "parents" of ours are not our parents anymore... but they are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Spirituality speaking, we have no mother... But we have a Father.

For me, I am so thankful to God that He used mary (just like the rest of the apostles and us now sharing the Bible) for His plans. But we should not extol nor pray nor worship to mary. Mary cannot hear us. She cannot.

Quote:
* i believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the baptism of the Spirit.
Amen to that
