Youth Group or Singles Bar?

Okay,in my youth group,a lot of the people are just there to hang out and play love connection.Even some of my distant friends. There are the few,the rare, the deticated, but all in all,it's just a mess. Are any of your youth groups like this?

For the most part, my youth group isn't like that. We are a very small group and most of us went to school together...so we're all just really good friends. But my best friend's youth group (where I used to go) is REALLY bad with that. It drove me nuts, that's why I quit going. Most of them were all just focused on hooking up. Not cool!

My high school youth group was focused more on dating as well. I'll admit, sometimes it looked appealing to focus more on that. I eventually left that youth group because it grew so cliquey and messed up (even one of the leaders, in my opinion, got caught up in it).
I know it hurts. I wish I had held more tightly to God's love during that time and didn't let bitterness grow in my spirit... bitterness is cancer of the soul, and it took me a full year to get all of that out.

My youth group isn't like that at all. Of course, I've only been with this group for three months....but these people are awesome! IT's small....at the most 15-20 people, and only four or five girls....but the girls are treated as sisters (and as royalty lol) and the guys are like brothers. Part of it probably has to do with the fact that everyone there is homeschooled or was homesclooled and is in college early. They are all really focused on God and don't at all do the dating game.

Ah, I love my youth group.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with this! I visited youth groups who were like that also.

You're blessed, Damaris! Praise God that there are places that are focused on the truth and depth of God's love.

Thanx christsgirly . I certainly didn't feel like a girl of God at the time... but I've learned not to base my faith on feelings (which change, of course) but on the love of God, which is constant.

And... I've learned to never give in to bitterness again! Oh goodness it was awful... don't ever let your heart become bitter, it'll eat your joy. I can tell you from experience, it's the worst disease of the heart.

My youth group can be a bit cliquey. But thats alright. I have come upon my difficultues, frustrations and problems in the church and something huge that I have learned, is we must love them back to life. We must. We must. We must. Encouragment spring fourth from our lips to lift these men and women of God who may have lost sight up. We need them just as much as they need us.

We used to be but the youth are getting so fired up about God that those days are gone! We are now helping each other grow! Tis great - put the focus in the right place and things sort themselves out. Can be said of anything - sort things out with God and the rest auto follows!

Maybe you could tell us Ed, did something just all of a sudden CHANGE on day just spontaneously? Or did something happen beforehand?
