Is this blasphemy? please help!

ok here's the story,

My best friend used to be Christian. She was saved and baptized in my church. It's a christian church I used to go to. Well, that was a couple of years ago. Now, she is involved in a mormon church, and just recently she was baptized in that mormon church. I don't know what to do? She says that mormonism is similar to christianity, but I know from my strong christian faith that this is NOT true. Mormonism is nothing like christianity. Do you think she has comitted blasphemy? Is she still saved? Please help! I'm scared for her eternity.

she may be saved, and yet confused.

i would encourage you to search out mormon beliefs, and point out to her where they do not line up with scripture. for one thing, mormons don't believe that Jesus is God. try to convince her of her error.

i'll be praying 4 you and her...

Joy

One of my family members did this...she was never saved, but it may be different for your friend...
My advice, keep on living the way you should and love her through all of this.Pray regularly with other people and DO NOT panic.Don't worry."if any two should gather in my name..."

Take a look at any good apologetics website or any decent apologetics book and it'll have plenty of reasons why Mormonism has problems. It's not just another denomination of Christianty; Mormons aren't saved.

Adding on to the hypocrisy, the Believers among us WHO DON'T keep their pants zipped still declare themselves to be "holy" because their intentions are directed towards the opposite sex.

cookiemobsta: you say that mormons aren't saved and i agree...
however, "the friend" (i dunno her name) was saved before turning to mormonism...that makes it a little more complicated...that's where the questions come in: once you're saved, can you lose it? or do you keep it forever no matter what you do?

Yeah. Once that first sin happens after you're saved, it's gone. And you have to get it back. There is no truth in what some denominations talk about "once saved always saved".

There are many passages in the Bible which indicate that Salvation is a gift with only one condition; Faith in Christ as the Saviour. Over and over again in some of the most well known passages of the Bible we're told that getting into Heaven isn't about how good we are, but how good God is. Personally, if Salvation was lost every single time we sinned, I think we'd all be going straight to hell. I know that sometimes even while I'm praying, or immediately thereafter, my mind wanders slightly. It doesn't take me much to get it under control again, especially at times like that, but I don't personally believe any human is, of his own volition, capable of being perfectly sinless. Which means, we'd be losing Salvation an awful lot in direct opposition to what the Bible teaches us about being confident of our Salvation. Perhaps we should look at the idea that someone who eventually moves away from Christ was never saved in the first place. It is 4 AM, so I'm a bit tired to go searching for references, though I can point you to a general area of 1 John, which seems to support the idea. John talks about the antichrists (plural) who have "gone out" from the church. And notes that by going out from the church they haven't really left it.. but rather were never a part of it to begin with. Somewhere around 1 John 2:19...

John

Mormons are 'more' saved than most so-called 'christians'.

However, if you do believe it's wrong, study the Mormon doctrines, sit down with her, and talk about it like adults.
