My testimony

My testimony isn't something huge...I wasn't delivered from drugs or anything like that, but it was something...something worth praising God for! I grew up in a Christian Mennonite home and went to a Christian day school, so I knew all I needed to know about Christianity. When I was seven, I asked Jesus into my heart...one of those innocent things kids do, I really had no idea what it meant. I thought that as long as I did that, I was good to go...I had my ticket into heaven. When I turned 16, I started hanging out with the wrong croud. A couple months into that, two girls who I considered my friends (the one I grew up with) desided they didn't want to be friends with me anymore, but instead of just telling me that, they started horrible rumors about me. I was majorly hurt and didn't know where to turn.

Now in order to get this straight...I have to go back a bit. In 7th grade, I became friends with this girl named Racheal. She was an amazing Christian, but when I started hanging out with the bad kids, she made me feel guilty so I stopped being her friend. So, you see, I did the same thing to her that those girls did to me...only they ruined my reputation! But when Rach found out, instead of saying something like "well, good! now she knows how it feels!" She came to me and hugged me and let me cry on her shoulder. She really showed me a picture of Christ.

A couple months later, she talked me into going on a weekend mission trip to New York City. That trip changed my life! God showed me that He loves everyone! He showed me that He can use even me! And He showed me what it's really like to be a sold-out Christian!

That mission trip was 2 years ago this spring. I've been on a total of 5 trips to the Big Apple and each one has changed me and brought me closer to Christ. I've had my struggles since then...I've been mad at God and had to work somethings out...but I know for certain that God is real, He loves me, and He will never leave me.

That was a great story and its amazing how God works ya, know. I happy that those trips changed you life.

Aren't mission trips amazing? I think that everyone should make an effort to go on at least once in their lifetime! They've really shaped me into who I am today. I'm so glad you had a great experience from one. NYC must have been an incredible place to do mission work.
