Edit AY! Newbie ![]() | My Awakening I am not sharing my whole testimony at this time but I felt moved to share a recent experience that changed my life and really awakened me. I have known Jesus for about 8 years or so and I have times of ups and times of downs. Its a roller coaster as it is for many people. But I was on a low at the end of the school year when I recieved an awakening. May 3, 2005 was the last regular season game for my high school baseball team and I always pinch ran for the slower people on the team. I was on second base as the ball was hit into center field. My coach sent me home and said they were gonna make a play at the plate. The throw was off so the catcher came up the line and I couldnt slide so I collided with him at full speed. I am not 100% positive but I beleive his kneepad came up and hit my side. His kneepad was hard plastic while I had nothing protecting my side. I sat on the bench thinking the wind was knocked out of me. I tried to stand and walk to the plate when someone hit a homer later that inning but I was unsuccessful. The pain was unbearable and I was taken to a doctor at the school. God blessed me by having the school physical there that day, so there were physicians at the school. He suspected I got hit REALLY hard or it was my spleen. He guessed right. About 12 at night I recieved news my spleen was in 4 pieces. I moved into a hospital room that night and was woken up about 10 times that night to take tempature, blood, blood pressure, etc. Anyways my spleen did not have to be taken out (very rarely does it have to be in children). I was released 3 days later and went home in a wheelchair as an aid. The pain was still there no doubt about that. One night God really showed me that he was in control of this whole situation. I was in pain and couldnt sleep and I just prayed to God to releive the pain in my side so I could sleep. It may seem little and stupid. But God did just that. The pain was gone within seconds! I just layed there in awe. God is truly great. I went to sleep. Anyways I was out from school for 2 weeks but returned for finals .Pain was gone in about 3 weeks and even though it didnt hurt I had to miss the post-season in baseball but my team didn't forget about me. They came and visited in the hospital. I didnt forget them. I sat on the sideline in my wheelchair doped out on pain killers in about 95 degree heat and I watched them win district and regions for the fourth straight year. It was amazing! I got to hold the trophies in the pictures. Anyways I am all fine now after 2 months of no activity. All this has awakened me in my wandering ways. I know that God had this planned so that he would awaken me and bring me closer to Him and I have taken advantage of this. I am closer to God than I have ever been and it feels GREAT! I am on top of the world. Anyways this situation really awakened me to God's greatness, power, mercy, and just everything. I dont have words to describe it. But I thought I would share this part of my life that awakened me. P.S. I scored the run! At the time it was the go ahead run. We won the game 11-3. That was the thing I asked while I was waiting in the ER. I was like "Mom, can I see the phone?" and I called my dad and wanted to see if we won the game. And then I was checking up on how the team was preparing for the post-season with my twin brother. Thought'd I'd share that. Everyone thinks thats funny that I wanted to know who won when my spleen was just broken. |
