Edit AY! Newbie ![]() | I'll keep this quite short, since I don't want to go on and on about myself, but here goes... I live in Glasgow, Scotland, and truth be told, it isn't always the nicest place to live. The area I live in isn't terrible, but it's not great, either, there's violence and drugs and all sorts of things. A few years ago, before I met Jesus, I was just another kid in the area, I did all the things that most people did 'round there; I smoked, I drank, I did a lot of things that I'm not at all proud of, and that I won't go into here. It was an ordinary day in January, I was going to the shops to get some more bread. On the way back, a man standing on the street corner handed me a leaflet with the message "Jesus Saves" on the front, in big letters. I was about to throw it away when I realised something; this man was standing outside, in the freezing cold, handing out leaflets for something he believed in. I stopped for a second to think about this, then went back to talk to him. I spend forty minutes talking to him that day, and went away converted. It sounds like a cliché "Bad kid converted by pious Christian" story, but it's what happened to me. Talking to him, learning how Jesus died for us all, how God loves each and every one of us, I was filled with a kind of serenity, and I felt like something that had been missing from my life until that point had suddenly arrived, glorious and fulfilling. I told the man (I'd found out that his name was Mike) I'd be back in a few minutes. I went home, put the bread in the cupboard - I got shouted at for being late, but I didn't care - and went back out again. Went back to that street corner and asked Mike more. I wanted to know how I could turn my life around. He just told me to stop hanging out with the people I was with, and took me down to a Christian Outreach centre. I met more people like me; talking to them, I realised how badly I'd spent my life so far. Fast-forward to the present day, and I'm involved in community projects, I have new friends, and the best part for me is that I managed to make my sister (she's 19 now) see the error of her ways too. Our lives have become enriched, thanks to a chance meeting with a stranger on a cold day. Sorry to go on for so long, but I like to tell this story to show people how Jesus can enrich people's lives. |

Edit Disciple ![]() | Thank you so much for sharing that...you wouldn't believe how much you just encouraged me. I've gone of 5 weekend mission trips to NYC and it can get pretty discouraging. People laugh at us and make fun, but you just proved that God can use people who pass out tracks. God will use anyone who is willing to be used. Awesome testimony! |
