Tanning

my friends go to tanning beds a lot. i like the 'sunkissed' look, but just get it from running around outside. i kind of feel like tanning is against God's will or something. like on a bed. so...what do u guys think?

i don't know about it being against God's will, but i'm against it, just because of the risks of skin cancer. i have really weird tan lines from playing softball and i really don't care. i'd rather have tan lines than have cancer. my friends are the same way as yours... they like to go tanning and they think "it won't happen to me"... well that's what everyone thinks huh?

I don't do tanning beds because frankly I think they're stupid. Spending hours of your time on just yourself is not Godly. I'm not trying to pass judgement on anyone who uses tanning beds, and I doubt they're "against God's will", but as you grow closer to God, you should weed out the things in your life that are not producing fruit. Like Paul said "everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial".

Now, if I had a non-christian friend who was open to talking aobut christianity but was rather busy and spent a lot of time on tanning beds....then I would unhesitatingly join her on the tanning beds as often as she wanted to talk.

So it depends on the context of how your doing it. If you're on tanning bds for selfish reasons, then you should "think of yourself with somber judgement". But if you are doing it for the sake of the kingdom of heaven, as in the above example, then don't let anyone slow you down!

I have fair skin also, I also think it's pretty, 'cause there's not many girls who are just a milky/creamy white, but I NEED to tan, for my skin, and 'cause I have a "farmer's tan"..... I just need to get just a LITTLE sun or tan from a tanning bed, to even it out.... I HATE FARMER'S TAN'S!!! lol

BTW, I've never been to a tanning bed, but I need to go just like 2-4 times, to even my skin out....

thanx Christsgirly. I was wondering if tanning is like dishonoring your body, which is God's temple, because of the possible outcomes. I kinda feel obligated to 'fit in' by being tan (no tanning beds tho!!) because the Bible said somewhere that you need to be like people to preach to them...but sometimes I wonder if i have selfish reasons too. now-i dont want to try this right now at 13!!-do you think those selftanners are any better or still selfish and not right? I think they may be better because you get the same results with less time spent on it, and without the risks of cancer. u guys think.....?

Tan girl, it's not gonna hurt you! It doesn't dis-honor God, there's no rule that you can't tan, if you want to tan, then tan, who's stopping you!?
