Question The Death Penalty/is it ok to kill?

Is the death penalty a sin? Is it against God's Word? Should they really die?

Doesn't God's Word itself say that men should be put to death for certain crimes? How, then, if the Word of God itself condones the death penalty, can we oppose it?

The Death Penalty is in the Bible, look at Stephen, he was the first to be stoned. Peter, Jesus, and a few other people in the Bible got Crucified. Jesus/God/Bible never said that the Death Penalty is wrong.

I agree with the Death Penalty, only to a certain extent. I agree with the Death Penalty if the person is guilty of a haneous crime, murder, stuff like that.

Did you know in Aruba there is NO Death Penalty!!! So that means a Serial Killer would be put in jail for a certain amount of time, then get let out after his time is up, there isn't any Death Penalties there, I would hate to live there!

If it could be proven beyond any reasonable doubt, there would be no debate on the issue and we wouldn't be here. You know as well as I do that unless you agree with me that the statements in the Old Testament concerning capital punishment were not done away with by the coming of Jesus, I will never be able to demonstrate to you a proof of my statement. So I'm going to ask you the reverse: Prove to me where Jesus explicitly reversed the rule of capital punishment. And I already know about the story of the woman caught in adultery, so don't bring that up.

Uh, no. A serial killer would be given multiple life sentences, and wouldn't likely get parole.

I don't agree with the death penalty, how are we to know that a person won't repent and come to God. By killing them we are destroying a potential child of God. Who are we to take the life of another?

what about i forget the exact quote " let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and are we not all sinners, therefore the death penalty is wrong biblicly. morrally i think no matter how many people said criminal kills does any more killing make it better, it is undoubtably harder on the criminal to live than it is to die, hes going to die eventually why not make his/ her existence on earth harsher rather than killing him .

Romans 13:1-4
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.

What is the sword used for? sweeping the floor?
