An ethical dilemma

OK, how about an ethical scenario:

You go down a mine with a group of five and a leader called Mike. Suddenly, about two thirds of the way down, there's a cascade of rocks which fall down and block the tunnel you just came from. You're stuck in a cave with an underground stream leading through it, but there's a small hole to climb out of which leads to safety. Mike (your leader) climbs through the hole first, but he gets stuck in it. Your only escape route is now blocked, and the cave is now slowly filling up with water. Luckily, you carry your handy stick of dynamite everywhere, so do you blow up Mike with the dynamite to rescue your group of five, or refuse to kill Mike and let the party drown?

If you didn't use the dynamite, Mike would drown also, right?

there is undoubtably a way to get Mike out of the hole he is stuck in, then you put the dynamite int he hole, it is almost impossible to get stuck on ones own volition. that being said i assume that is not the point, the decision is clear save the majority or all perish.

I would get my group of 5 to pull Mike out, once we get out we get my dynamite to make the hole bigger we all get out to safety, then we all go out to eat Mexican! LOL That's what I would do.

But, out of my 2 choices this is what I would pick: If Mike dies we all die, 'cause Mike can't get out, and we're all gonna drown! Or, we would follow the stream and find where it starts build a raft out of the rock and float down river!

Oops, sorry, forgot to mention that Mike went into the hole head-first, and got stuck half-way, so he won't drown, and for the purposes of the debate, let's say that he'll survive if you decide not to blow him up. ;-)

I would probably die along with the guy, 'cause I would be trying to decide!! lol

I'd put it up for a vote with the other five. Whoever said to blow up Mike first could do it. Then we would all drown during the ensuing argument.

well i'd probably blow the dynamite somewhere else.. would that be possible!?!!?

anyway, if you choose to kill your friend, then you'd better not live anymore too.. i mean, how'd you bear with that guilt for the rest of your life?!?!
