Being Positive Makes Me Negative

I feel that when I say something positive to a person and they are like "Oh that's great", makes me feel negative. I mean I feel negative when someone says something positive to me like if I am going to do something good and they say that is good I feel discouraged. It is like them being positive discourages me. Can you pray for me that I stop feeling discouraged? Also why do you think I feel this way?

Here's a question: When someone talks negatively about YOU, how do you feel?

First of all, if you're freinds are telling u what you're doing is cool when u think so too, they def aren't trying to discourage you, they're trying to to just the oposite!
So why do u feel that way?

If someone says something negative I wouldn't be happy about that. I asked the same question on another Christian forum at Helives.com and someone said that it may have to do with pride of someone saying that to me. I think it may be that or that I don't want people to think I am so great. I don't know why I feel this way.

The only other thing i can come up with other than what you and the others said is that its a rebelling thing. I know when ever i was about to do homework or chores and my rents said oh good i wouldnt do them... or whenever told me how great it is that i just got on and did stuff i wouldnt do it any more... like the positives turned my reactions negative there. And it was jsut something i 1) grew out of and 2) taught myself to be reasonable and ignore what they said if it was going to wind me up so bad!

my only advice is to keep praying. And i encourage you it wont last forever so long as you dont want it too... because if you want something bad enough and its to do wiht yourself you can change it! But God is awesome - tell him all your frustrations and leave them at the foot of the cross...

you might be feeling like they are not telling you the truth, maybe you feel like they are saying wat they r to make you feel good, or better, or just being polite. i'll pray for you.

Everything is ok and I still feel the way I do but not as much. The reason I do feel discouraged is probably because I wouldn't want others to say I did good at something because I know I did.
