Cool Even the Best of Them make mistakes

Hi. i was just wondering about what other christians do when they've made a mistake, or they've sinned. If you sin, you should obviously ask forgiveness, right? well, how do you make sure not to comit the same sins again... Say it's something as simple and as difficult to break as lying...how can you train yourself to stop? Does anyone ever worry that God won't forgive them, or does anyone ever feel like they are unsalvagable because of all of the mistakes they've made? I've felt really spiritually depressed occasionally, and i can't figure out how to keep from it. What do you all think? Do you guys have any bible verses that could help with any of this...? I hope the topic isn't too vague...and i hope you know what to say...anyway...do your best to answer if you can plz.
--thanks

Oh wow! I can understand completely! I fall into continual sin over and over again! But I have not come to any conclusions exactly. I'm with you. I do something I know to be wrong, I ask God's forgiveness. I can just hope and pray that I'm still a Christian after the one hundredeth time! But I don't know for sure...

Let me tell you something, you are NOT alone!! There have been many times in my life where I struggled with wondering if I was being forgiven...especially after I made the same mistakes over and over again...It's hard...it's not easy to get in the right frame of mind at times when it comes to doing the right thing. But Christ will forgive you if you go to Him with a humble heart, truly asking to be forgiven. When I think about asking for forgiveness...I really think that it's telling the person (or in this case, God) that you know what you did was wrong and you're going to do your best not to do it again. That's my view on it. If you are a bit more specific I might be able to help you a little bit more...you can PM me to talk if that would make you feel better...

don't worry, God will forgive you. If you ever feel the urge to sin, just remember, this is Satan trying to get a hold of me. then think of a Bible verse you like, or a song. If it continues to happen, each time you feel like sinning, think to yourself, 'what if the rapture happened right now, would i want Got to see me like this?' now i know that you know God can always see you, but face to face? you wouldn't want to becaught sinning against Him.
hope that helps. I'll pray for you.

me again...

Sometimes i feel like nobody cares, or that God won't forgive me...i just don't feel forgiven...like, sometimes, like after a revival or a summer camp, i feel on top of the world and walkin' with God, but now i just feel totally opposite... I get to feeling depressed and then i think, "well, i'm in a hole, might as well make it deeper because God's not gonna forgive me, and i end up sinning even more." i hate the situation im in. i just wonder, probably illogically, but still..."am i still a christian?", "does God still love me, or does he just think 'poor stupid psymind, he can't take care of himself'." I'm in need of some encouragement/advice...help me please.... ...

I ask God for forgiveness when I sin right after and I do feel that I am not forgiven sometimes because I sinned on purpose knowing I shouldn't. To stop try and think that Christ died for you and that when you sin it is like putting a nail into his wrist/hand and you don't want to do that right. I heard that from someone when I was 12 and now I am 19. Try to think of something like that. I some times think what I do is unforgivable then I think that as long as I believe that God forgives when I ask and I try to stop then I am forgiven.

Micheal thats an awesome way to think of it, i totally agree.
Psymind14 - God will forgive you if you ask for forgiveness. He wants to forgive you, if He didn't He wouldn't have died on the cross for you. He loves you so much that if you were the only person in the world to ever sin (which of course you aren't but just say that you are) He still would have died only for you, so that you might live forever with Him.

God forgives even those whom society deems as outcasts. He can forgive you. Please send me a PM. I would like to pray over you and give you some scriptures on God's Forgiveness.
