Thrown for a loop...

I go to a smaller private school (300 people in 7-12th grade), and recently, a scandal has occured. A senior and sophomore who have been dating for almost a year made a big mistake, and now she (the sophomore) is pregnant. I was friends with both of them, and now I'm pretty psyched out. They both grew up in Christian homes and have been taught that it is wrong to have sex outside of marriage all of their lives. It scared me to see what has happened to them. I have realized just how easily one can slip to temptation. Almost everyone at my school is just judging them and talking behind their backs, and it makes me sick. Shouldn't we be praying for them and supporting them? Yes, they made a mistake, but we are all capable of giving into temptation. I really don't know what to do. My friends can all tell that this situation has hit me hard, I don't know why. Well, yes, I do. This has made me sort of afraid. I now realize just how easy it could be for my b/f and I to let our guard down and make the same mistake, so I have, like, totally mentally backed off and gone back to square one with our relationship. What can I do to help the couple, (they plan on getting married in June, even though she is only 16 and he is only 18 )? How can I show them that I can accept them through their mistake? This one event that doesn't even directly affect me has totally turned my life upside-down...

hey there..

first of all, you gotta understand that temptation knocks at everyone's door - Christian or non-Christian. and we ALL fall for temptation each day, the only difference is that your friend's fall had a consequence of a life time.

if you're up to making a difference, then stand up for them. not for their sin, but for the forgiveness of it. don't be involved in the gossips. this friend of yours is very brave - others would've opted for an abortion to save their own faces, but at least she has the guts to do a right within a wrong. perhaps you could leave notes or call your friend to let her know you're there for her.

and... i'm not sure if you should just let your relationship with your bf slip away like that. if God is the center of your relationship, and if you're out to honor him in all you do, you're gonna be safe and fine.
