On - Screen

At my church, I do everything on screen, and I think it's time to start doing it a little different...

So, at your church do you have:
A verse at a time, or just maybe just a line or two from the song at a time?
Do you have a special background, does it change every week, or is it just plain black or blue?
What software do you use? (if you know)

What do you think makes it easier to see, and follow along with, a whole verse on screen at a time, or just a line or two?

Thank you for your input!

at my church, my brother does all that stuff. We put a verse of a song at a time and the background does change every week. We put the annocements sp? on there before church too. Anyway, I think it's easier with the whole verse but that's just me.

What kind of images does your brother use?

Verse on the screen and we change it when it's finished. We keep the same background all the time but they're different on each song (Usually a scenic picture or a gradient).

You could pull a Hillsong, have a video camera show an image of the singers on the projector and overlay one or two lines.

The stuff that i do is one verse at a time on a black background (images make the words harder to read cause we have a pretty rubbish projecter), we use something called Zionworks. I'd definitely say a whole verse over a few lines in slow songs, i always feel kinda rushed when there's only a couple of lines on at a time and constant change isn't good when you're trying to open up and relax, not so sure about fast songs since they normally have quite short verses anyway.

Another branch of my church films everything so does exactly what is said in the above post only with whole verses, i really don't like it to be honest, all the camera movement is really distracting, simple is always better in my opinion...

If your church has an alright budget going and has $3000 to spare, you should consider getting a new one.

Our church has about 3-4 slides for each song, just to make it a little easier. Our background changes weekly. It varies from scenery to just solid colors with a small design. Either one works. I would recommend putting the whole verse up on the screen. If you are going to leave it up there while the Pastor/speaker talks about it, it would be nice for everyone to see the whole verse at the same time.

That's actually what I'm using! It is good! It also has a powerpoint plugin so I can use it to display powerpoint presentations like the church announcements and the pastor's sermon notes.

We really need a new projector, the one we have (infocus X1a) [one of the cheapest on the market!] does okay, but is really low resolution, does not produce a large picture...

Thank you all for your input, I am trying to come up with a new easier to follow way. If anyone has any more input, I'd love to hear it!
