cannot wait to visit her BFF!!!
Edit Administrator ![]() | Gentiles are everyone but Jews, so technically if you're not jewish you're a gentile. Jews believe that the Messiah is coming, Protestants are non-catholics (in it's basic form) like Baptists, Methodists, Church of God, the term Protestant wasn't really formed until Martin Luther's Reformation from the Catholic Church. I'll let you borrow a book of mine that is called "So What's the Difference?" It takes the top 20 world religions (Catholicism, Orthodox, Mormonism, etc...) and compares them to Christianity. Great book. I hope that i have answered some of what you were asking! :D p.s. Israel has always been God's Chosen people.

Edit Administrator ![]() | The country of the person?? Israel is another name for Jacob in the Old Testament, one of the fathers of Jews. Israel the country is the promised land that was promised to Abraham (I believe it was Abraham).

Edit Administrator ![]() | Do you mean in the sense that God Choses Christians? Or in the sense that to be one of God's chosen people you must be a jew?

Edit Super Moderator ![]() | God says this of the Israelites: "For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession." --Deut. 14:2 (NIV) Here, I do believe that 'chosen' means something close to 'holy', -->set apart for the glory of the Lord. (Jews would most likely agree)Gentiles pretty much means... everyone whos not an Israelite. An Israelite is a person descended from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob... all three of those must be part of it. Abraham is actually an ancestor of lots of nations, as God told him he would be. Isaac and Ishmael were two sons of Abraham, Ishmael being the ancestor of the Arabic peoples. Jacob and Esau were the sons of Isaac, and Jacob was later renamed by God to the name of Israel. In the Bible, we see the Israelites (descendents of Jacob) pass thru the land of the descendants of Esau. So all three of those ancestral fathers (Abraham, Isaac, AND Jacob/Israel) are important in defining the chosen people The differences between Catholic and Protestant. Ah, there are many. But many things in common too. Both affirm: the Trinity, the Deity of Christ, the Virgin birth, the crucifixion, burial, and bodily resurrection of Christ, the future visible return of Christ, the divine inspiration of the Bible, among other things. Protestants (generally speaking) hold to the rule of faith called "sola Scriptura", or "Scripture Alone". Catholics hold to the rule of faith sometimes referred to as "Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and Sacred Magisterium". Is there a specific area you are wondering about? Cuz this is a pretty broad topic... PM me if ya like, I'll be happy to help ![]()

Edit Super Moderator ![]() | Ok: just as an interesting little tidbit, the word "Jew" isn't the same as the word "Israelite". The word "Jew" was originally a slang term used to describe anyone belonging to the tribe of Judah (one of the tribes of Israel). So, you could be an Israelite and not be a Jew, technically. Today, we use the words interchangably. As for how God sees us today, I just heard a talk about that last night We are all one in the Body. We are all saved by the same Person, and we are loved equally. ![]()

Edit Prophet/Prophetess ![]() | Quote:
the magisterium is the teachings of the Catholic church handed down by apostolic succession, and consists of the Sacred Scriptures and Traditions. Catholics are Christians, who hold to the pre-reformation principles that have existed for 2 thousand years./
