I guess just about every heresy has an element of truth. While I do believe that Christian unity is lacking today, I believe that we're plummeting down the slide of not standing up for truth.
What we suffer from... is humility in the wrong place. Modesty has moved from the organ of ambition. Modesty has settled upon the organ of conviction; where it was never meant to be. A man was meant to be doubtful about himself, but undoubting about the truth; this has been exactly reversed. Nowadays the part of a man that a man does assert is exactly the part he ought not assert--himself. The part he doubts is exactly the part he ought not to doubt--the Divine Reason. ~G. K. Chesterton
I think there are things we can pull out of the ecumenical movement. There is no reason that genuine christians shouldn't be able to worship together under various conditions. Musical preferences, worship styles and preaching styles shouldn't really matter as much as we like to make them. The focus is Christ and His glory.
A closing thought to ponder on: Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction. ~Blaise Pascal
